LAISON Launches "Metering as a Service (MaaS) White Paper 2026" to Accelerate Global Sustainable Water Development

HANGZHOU, China / January, 2026 - Hangzhou LAISON Technology Co., Ltd. (LAISON) officially released its "Metering as a Service (MaaS) White Paper 2026", offering an innovative service-based model for sustainable water management, particularly in developing regions.

As global water stress continues to intensify, traditional manual metering and extensive management models are no longer able to meet the critical demands of leakage control, accurate billing, and efficient operation maintenance. Smart metering has become a key lever for resolving the growing contradictions between water scarcity and inefficient utility operations.

To address these challenges, the White Paper proposes the "Metering as a Service" (MaaS) model — a paradigm shift from traditional "hardware product delivery" to "operational value delivery". By deeply integrating smart metering technology, digital platforms, financing, and long-term services, MaaS lowers the entry barriers for utilities to deploy smart metering solutions and realize measurable operational improvements.

The MaaS model is specifically designed to address the core pain points faced by water utilities in developing countries, especially across Africa, such as capital shortages, high non-revenue water levels, and inefficient operational management. It delivers a practical, financeable, and scalable smart metering and financially sustainable solutions, contributing to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): Clean Water and Sanitation.
